Animals are at the center of all we do at Sindisa Sanctuary. We believe it is important to stay educated on the current issues facing animal rights in America today. While there are many worthy topics, we feel most passionate about educating the public on factory farming, horse racing, the decline of wild horses and current legislation effecting all of the above.
Factory Farming
Factory farms dominate U.S. food production, employing abusive practices that maximize agribusiness profits at the expense of the environment, our communities, animal welfare, and even our health.
Horse Racing
Behind the romanticized façade of Thoroughbred horse racing is a world of injuries, drug abuse, gruesome breakdowns, and slaughter. While spectators show off their fancy outfits and sip mint juleps, horses are running for their lives.
Wild Horses
Recently, the US House Appropriations Committee voted for the second straight year (2018-2019) to keep open the door to legal horse slaughter as part of its FY19 Agriculture appropriations bill. Learn more and support the SAFE Act (H.R. 113).
Legislation
Californians have shown time and time again that they want commonsense protections for animals, the environment, and food safety. Now they’ve achieved a major victory through the Prevent Cruelty California, a measure to protect the most abused animals in the pork, veal, and egg industries. However, we can’t stop here.
